SHOPPING ATHLETES VIE FOR THE TOP PRIZE
AND HELP THE JAYCEES AT THE WOODFIELD DECATHLON
Schaumburg, Ill. (September 7, 2004) -- "Shopping athletes" will grab their gym shoes, stretch their muscles and head for the Woodfield Decathlon on Saturday, September 18 at 10:30 a.m. The series of ten shopping-related challenges will pit contestants in a race against time to determine who the fastest shopping athlete is. Participants have a chance to win a $250, $150 or $100 Woodfield gift certificate for a shopping spree at the Chicago-area's largest shopping center. During the Decathlon, hosted by Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Ill., Woodfield will donate $1 for every contestant who completes the Decathlon on top of a $1,000 gift to the Illinois Jaycees -- Schaumburg Chapter.
Dozen of competitors will race through 10 stations of shopping challenges set up in Grand Court. Challenges include folding a stack of t-shirts using a folding board, stacking a set of drinking glasses, measuring a person's foot to fit them with the appropriate size shoe, dressing a doll in infant's clothing, bagging different sized gift boxes into a single Woodfield shopping bag, using chopsticks to arrange a mock sushi presentation and more.
The top three participants who accurately complete all challenges in the shortest time will be awarded Woodfield gift certificates, which are redeemable at all Woodfield stores and restaurants. The event is free and open to the public.
